AST LEVEL 1 (Avalanche Safety Training)

Avalanche awareness is a necessity for anyone skiing, boarding and traveling in the mountains during the winter! This 2.5 day course will help you recognize winter hazards and understand the basics of evaluating snow stability. Topics such as weather, snow pack, terrain, route finding, use of a transceiver and rescue techniques will be covered. Individual Price - $270 (plus 12% HST).

8HR FIRST AID COURSE

If you plan on exploring any of the un-patrolled areas around Whistler Blackcomb, this course could be a lifesaver! This basic first aid course will give you confidence to respond effectively in an emergency. You will learn lifesaving skills such as patient assessment, rescue breathing, CPR, and obstructed airway procedures. You will also learn to recognize and respond to respiratory and circulatory emergencies including asthma, bleeding, shock, heart attack, and stroke. Includes CPR-A certification. Individual Price - $165 (plus 12% HST).

OVERNIGHT BACKCOUNTRY TRIP!

This trip involves two full days of ski-touring with an ACMG certified mountain guide, plus an evening classroom session to plan the trip. We'll be foregoing the comfort of a hut to dig our own sleeping pits in the snow and learn the skills needed to survive overnight in the mountains. This trip is open to anyone who has done their AST Level 1. Maximum group size is 6 people. Individual Price - $520 (plus 12% HST).
You will learn:
- How to plan an overnight trip based on weather conditions & avalanche safety status.
- What equipment to pack
- How to plan your meals
- Local geography & map reading skills
- How to sleep in the snow, staying safe and warm!
- Continuing avalanche awareness

And most importantly you'll have two days of awesome skiing or riding!

TRANSCEIVER PRACTICE
