Who says Whistler is dead in fall?
The only thing dead around here is a maybe a few leaves! Whistler officially kicks off “shoulder season” with the 5th incarnation of the Whistler Village Beer Festival. This festival is a must-attend for everyone in Whistler. It is spread over two days (September 16th & 17th) and welcomes over 60 awesome B.C. craft brewers to the Whistler Olympic Plaza. Each brewer will bring their best 2 best beers to the table to compete for full-year draught contracts at local pubs in Whistler. The winners will be decided based on token weight and a people choice award.
If you are worried about going hungry at the festival, a selection of local food vendors have got you covered. Their smoked meats, authentic European sausages (with sauerkraut) and even Asian style noodle bowls (the gluten-free & vegan option) will be ready and waiting to help prolong your beer drinking time. If you are like us and for some reason the smooth flavour of craft beer just makes you feel like dancing, you are in luck. There are live bands playing on both days including local favourites and some out-of-towners like the Band of Rascals whose hard blues-rock style is like if Kings of Leon and The Black Keys had a baby and that baby played music.
Tickets are already 80% sold out so get yours now! Full weekend passes are starting at $59 but if you can only handle one day, Sunday passes are $35. There is also a selection of events surrounding the festival like the Axes & Ales event which is being hosted by Whistler Brewing Co. at Forged Axe throwing in Function or the Sip and Stretch where yoga meets beer drinking hosted by Lululemon. Feeling hung over? Buy a ticket to one of the brunches happening at either the Brickworks (Saturday) or Stonesedge (Sunday). A nice benny will surely sort out whatever problems you may be having the next morning and get you prepared for round 2!
We will be there in full beer drinking mode so come by and say hi!
